Discovering music

We have all been watching with so much delight as our littlest one, born in March 2020, discovers the world around him!

On the day he was born, I sang him the songs that I had recorded for our surrogate to play for him while she was pregnant, and he was instantly comforted and happy. I will always remember that beautiful moment.

Since then, he has shown a love for music in so many ways! He is crawling all around and almost walking, and you can always bet that he is headed toward a drumstick, maracas, his little piano, his singing puzzle, or a musical book. (His absolute favorite book is One Love by Cedella Marley, illus. by Vanessa Brantley-Newton. He brings the book to us daily to sing to him while he gently touches the faces of the characters!)

His joy in music has inspired me to write and draw about how discovering music brings more and more color to his world.

I’ve started imagining, drawing, and writing… can’t wait to see what it turns into!
